Since 2015, the third Friday in February has been observed as National Caregiver’s Day. As the name suggests, it is a time to recognize and celebrate those who have dedicated their lives to care for others. Caregivers wear many hats. They are companions, therapists, advocates, all wrapped in one. Whether they are an employed medical professional or family caregiver, the job of caring for others often goes unnoticed. If you have a caregiver in your life and you’re looking for a way to show your appreciation, we have compiled a list of helpful tips!
1. Write a Thank You Card
It goes without saying, but a simple thank you goes a long way. A thank you card is the perfect way to share encouraging and uplifting words to a caregiver. It is a keepsake that they will cherish forever.
2. Donate to Their Favorite Charity
In the health profession, sending gifts is often frowned upon, however, donating to a cause or charity that is near and dear to a caregiver’s heart is the next best thing!
3. Inform Their Employer
No matter which setting you work in, it’s always nice to receive praise on the job. If the person caring for your loved one is doing an exceptional job, let their supervisor know. They will be appreciative.
